Failure to Handle Offenses

Let not my lord regard this worthless fellow, Nabal, for as his name is, so is he. Nabal is his name, and folly is with him. But I your servant did not see the young men of my lord, whom you sent. Please forgive the trespass of your servant. For the LORD will certainly make my lord a sure house, because my lord is fighting the battles of the LORD, and evil shall not be found in you so long as you live. 1 Samuel 25:25,28

1. Exalt the Lord for He is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love, for He has been faithful to us this past week (Psalm 103:1–2, 8). Thank God for all the services that we had on Sunday and for the anointed, powerful and successful ministry by the youth. Thank God for the timely message that He spoke to us and the lives transformed by the ministry of the word.

2. Offenses are inevitable, how we handle them is what matters most. Pray that we may handle offense with wisdom and restraint, refusing to act in anger or spread bitterness, and protecting ourselves and others from the damage of transferred or generational offense.

3. Pray that we may remember and stay faithful to our God-given purpose, choosing responses that honour God's calling over reactions that could delay, deform, or destroy our visions and dreams.

4. Pray that we may be humble and open to godly counsel, even from unexpected sources, and not let the pain of offense blind us to truth, reality, or the greater purpose God is working through the situation.

5. Pray that we may walk in forgiveness and healing, releasing all bitterness and trusting God to deal justly with every offense, so that love may cover all wrongs and our hearts remain free and whole.
