Broken Partnerships

Challenges in Vision Execution

Recurrent Thought

  • God calls into partnerships for His purposes. Yet, fruitful partnerships are rare and apart from endurance, .they require spiritual and relational maturity,

Strategic partnerships are key to advancing vision, in ministry, missions and any entrepreneurial adventure. No one builds alone, even Jesus built a team of disciples as his strategic partners. Ecclesiastes 4:9 declares that “Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor.” However, Strong partnerships are not easy for they come with unique spiritual, emotional, and relational challenges. We see Peter calling for Partners from the other boat to come and help bring in a big catch, a big harvest (Luke 5:7). Some fish are too big for one net — they require team effort. You will come to realize that this is Gods clear intension. He is looking for leaders who can build together and not just shine alone.

However, the reality is that we exist in environments where Partnership do not work well even among Christians. Broken Partnership drain the energy and resources that are supposed to bring vision fulfillment

Here are Six Challenges in Building Strategic Partnerships and Five ways to overcome

  1. The Challenge of Spiritual Mismatch (2 Corinthians 6:14)
    • The challenge with creating partnerships is finding yourself with partners who do not match your character and zeal.
    • The scriptures admonish us no “- -  not to be unequally yoked…” nonbelievers,
    • Partnerships must be based on shared faith, values, and vision.
    • A partner who lacks spiritual alignment can slow down or derail a divine assignment.
    • As you pursue your dreams Seek partners who carry your burden and not just your brand.
  2. The Challenge of Conflicting Motives and Agendas (Philippians 2:20–21)
    • Sometimes Partners may not just be a mismatch, but the are totally a wrong fit. They come for wrong reasons.
    • Paul testified something great about Timothy: “I have no one like him . . But others seek their own.”
    • Today, Ministers of the Gospel are in difficult challenges with the philosophies of the world. You can have partners where one partner wants fame and the other wants souls. Such the partnership breaks.
    • God-honoring partnerships require purity of motive and kingdom-first thinking.
  3. The Challenge of Control freaks who are full of Insecurity (Proverbs 13:10)
    • Some Partners, I hope you are not the one, are full of themselves. They want to control everything despite their lack of required skills
    • Proverbs states that “Pro 13:10 “Too much pride causes trouble. Be sensible and take advice.
    • Many partnerships collapse because of the battle for control, recognition, or fear of being overshadowed. If you have a partner like that, it is better to leave that partnership
    • We can also have marriages where the battle for control and recognition runs supreme in the partners. Sadly, we can’t advise you to leave. You remain until death does separate you
    • The antidote for control freaks is to be clothed with humility, transparency, and a servant leadership lifestyle. These are non-negotiables in strategic collaboration.
  4. The Challenge of Breakdowns in Communication (Amos 3:3)
    • At times, strategic partnerships are derailed due to bad or no communications between partners.
    • Strategic Partners must communicate well for them to work together. Amos questioned the reality of breakdown in communications when he stated “Can two walk together unless they are agreed?”
    • Part of breakdown in communication is Misunderstanding, silence, or unclear expectations that lead to offense.
    • Strategic partners must talk clearly, frequently, and graciously.
  5. The Challenge of Unequal Investment or Commitment (Acts 15:36–41)
    • Partnership break when one fills they have invested more than the other yet the benefits are unmatched.
    • Paul and Barnabas split over John Mark. Their views differed on Mark’s reliability.
    • When one partner is all-in and the other is halfhearted, resentment grows
    • There must be mutual Vision, sacrifice, and endurance.
  6. The Challenge of Understanding  Seasonal Shifts & God’s Direction (Ecclesiastes 3:1)
    • Understand that some Partnership should essentially break to create better ones.
    • Some partnerships are for a season, not forever.
    • Not every split is a betrayal; some are divine redirections.
    • Learn to let go gracefully when God redirects.
    • Therefore, you create pain for yourself to insist on a partnership that must end

How to Overcome some Challenges that affect Strategic Partnerships.

  1. Pray Before You Partner; Pray while in Partnership (Luke 6:12–13)
    • Jesus spent all night in prayer before choosing the Twelve.
    • Don’t rush strategic partnerships — spiritual discernment matters.
    • Jesus continued to pray for his partners intensely (John 17)
  2. Regularly Clarify Purpose, Vision, and Expectations
    • Vision documents, covenants, or regular retreats help keep alignment.
    • Talk openly about roles, boundaries, and values.
  3. Partners must Cultivate Humility and Mutual Honor (Romans 12:10)
    • “Outdo one another in showing honor.”
    • Create space for feedback, correction, and forgiveness.
  4. Build Trust Through Time and Trials
    • There is always an evil day for every one of us
    • Strategic partnerships are tested by storms and those who survive develop stronger roots.
    • Don’t abandon the table too quickly;
  5. Ensure that  God is at the Center of the Partnership (Matthew 18:20)
    • When Christ is at the center, egos shrink and grace increases.
    • Mat 18:20 Whenever two or three of you come together in my name, I am there with you.

Conclusion

  • Understand that the enemy hates kingdom partnerships, because they multiply impact.

  • Pray about the partnerships in your life: Are they spiritually aligned, or spiritually draining?
