Healing of Broken Dreams

And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpillar, and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among

Joel 2:25

“Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.

Isa 43:18-19

Text: Joel 1:1-4; 2:25; Isaiah 43:18-19

Recurrent Thought

God is the Lord of restoration, He can heal any broken dream and rebuild what seems impossible in our lives

At the Beginning of this year most of us presented to the Lord Dreams we desired to achieve in months to come. Some of us our Vision Boards were set years past, but they never bring any flicker of hope. It is possible that you are now standing around broken dreams, shattered vision. I come to remind you that God heals dreams, and restores punctured hope.

The book of Joel describes a national tragedy. A swarm of locusts destroyed Israel’s harvest. I destroyed their work, their livelihood, their future. For them, it felt like life had eaten their dreams. You may feel the same today. Circumstances, disappointments, failures, losses, and delays seem to “eat” months or years of hope. Prophet Joel’s message is powerful. He shows that God does not only forgive, he also restores. He does not simply fix what was broken; He gives back what was lost. He heals dreams that died, renews purposes that faded, and redeems seasons that seemed wasted.

I want to paint a vivid Picture using five truths grounded in the Word of the Lord

  1. God Restores What is Destroyed
Prophetically, in this text the locusts represent loss, destruction, and painful seasons.
Beloved I want you to know that God Restores no matter your dreams got destroyed
    • He Restores Loss Caused by Circumstances
    • He Restores Loss Caused by Our Decisions
    • He Restores What Time Has Eaten
  2. God Heals Hearts Before He Restores Dreams.
    • He Heals Through Repentance and Return to His Love
    • He Heals Through Renewal of Hope
    • He Heals Through His Presence
  3. God Restores Dreams by Making New Beginnings
    • He Calls Us to Forget the Former Limitations
    • He Gives New Beginnings Through His Word
    • He Causes New Things to Spring Forth Quickly
  4. God Restores Dreams by Making a Way Where There Is No Way
    • He Makes a Path Through the Wilderness
    • He Turns Dry Places into Rivers
    • He Does the Impossible for His People
  5. God Rebuilds with Greater Future Than the Past
    • One Unique aspect to God’s restoration is that it always exceeds what was lost.
    • He Gives a Greater Outpouring
    • Restored Dreams Honor God
    • Restored Dreams Bless Others

Conclusion

Based on the Word of the Lord

  • Your dream is not dead.
  • Your future is not finished.
  • Your God is still speaking: “Behold, I will do a new thing.”
