The pitfall of partial surrender

Key thought: Partial surrender is a common trap that we can fall into. We must be careful to be fully committed to God's righteous demands 

Spiritual growth is tied to our obedience of God's commands 

Partial surrender is dangerous as it gives us a false comfort of alignment to God's demands, and yet we are still below God's demands 

How partial surrender manifests

1.Zeal without wholehearted devotion

We must not have divided loyalty - no one can serve two masters

2.Selective obedience 

Sin stings, regardless of size and visibility 

3.Indifference to God's standards

Intentions notwithstanding, we must pursue God by his standards. 

How do we overcome partial surrender 

A.Watch and pray

No one is immune from temptations, we must continuously watch and pray.

B.Examine if you are still standing

Identify 'golden calves'

C.Deal with the sin that easily entangles us

Fighting against sin is a lifelong battle 

He who hides his sin will not prosper 

E.Remain yielded to the Holy Spirit 

He searches the heart for misalignment 

Conclusion 

God desires and deserves our total commitment
