Praying for World Situations
For he delivers the needy when he calls, the poor and him who has no helper. He has pity on the weak and the needy, and saves the lives of the needy. From oppression and violence he redeems their life, and precious is their blood in his sight. Psalms 72:12-14
First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. 1 Timothy 2:1-2
And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come. Matthew 24:14
- Pray for nations affected by war, violence and political instability, including Sudan, Gaza, Ukraine, Russia, Iran, Lebanon, Israel, Afghanistan, DRC and other troubled regions. Ask God to restrain evil, protect civilians, comfort the grieving, and move leaders toward peace, justice and wise dialogue.
- Pray for refugees, displaced families, children, widows, the elderly and all vulnerable people caught in crises. Ask God to provide shelter, food, medical care, protection and hope, and to strengthen those offering humanitarian support.
- Pray for countries affected by disease outbreaks, especially Ebola in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Uganda and other countries at risk. Ask God to preserve life, protect health workers, stop further spread, and provide the resources, wisdom and cooperation needed for effective response.
- Pray for world leaders, governments and international partners to have wisdom, compassion and hearts that protect the vulnerable and less privileged. Pray that reductions or withdrawals of resources for health care, humanitarian relief and protection services will be reconsidered, rescinded or replaced, so that those in greatest need are not abandoned.
- Pray that believers across the world will remain spiritually awake, compassionate and bold in sharing the good news of Jesus Christ despite fear, persecution, hardship and uncertainty. Ask God to make the Church a light in darkness, and that many nations will hear the gospel and turn to Christ.
