Praying for Malawi and people groups of Ethiopia

Praying for Malawi

“We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.” (2 Corinthians 4:8–9)

“As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the Lord surrounds his people both now and forevermore.” (Psalm 125:2).

1. Thank God for bringing Malawi this far despite the many hardships that have struck the nation. Thank Him that Malawi is not abandoned nor destroyed, and that faith in Him still stands strong.

“We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.” (2 Corinthians 4:8–9)

2. Pray for more faith to rise across the nation, that all the “dry bones” we see in families, communities, institutions, and the country will live again by the grace of God, and that hope will spring forth in Malawi.

“This is what the Sovereign Lord says to these bones: I will make breath enter you, and you will come to life.” (Ezekiel 37:5)

3. Pray that the church will lead Malawi in walking by faith and not by sight, guiding the nation with righteousness and hope, and being a light that points people to Christ.

“For we walk by faith, not by sight.” (2 Corinthians 5:7)

4. Pray for the upcoming elections, that God will give Malawi ward councillors, legislators, and a president after His own heart. Pray that citizens will not be misled by deceitful campaigns, and that peace will prevail before, during and after elections. Pray against violence, accidents and any works of darkness meant to kill, steal and destroy lives in Malawi.

“I will give you shepherds after my own heart, who will lead you with knowledge and understanding.” (Jeremiah 3:15)

5. Pray for God’s power to surround Malawi just as He surrounds Jerusalem, protecting the land from every sceptre of evil. Pray that the elections will usher in a new era of peace, development, and advancement in line with the Malawi 2063 Vision.

“As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the Lord surrounds his people both now and forevermore.” (Psalm 125:2).
