Praying for The Netherlands (Europe)

“Will you not revive us again, that your people may rejoice in you?” (Psalm 85:6)

“And I have other sheep that are not of this fold. I must bring them also, and they will listen to my voice. So there will be one flock, one shepherd.” (John 10:16)

Christianity in the Netherlands has declined sharply from its strong history of missions and Christian influence. Today less than 10% attend church weekly, secularism dominates, and many church buildings are destroyed or repurposed. Catholic and Protestant churches face steep decline, but there are signs of hope through evangelical, charismatic, independent, and immigrant churches. Urban populations and growing Muslim communities present both challenges and opportunities for the Gospel, and the Dutch Caribbean islands remain largely nominal in faith.

1. Pray for revival that restores the Netherlands spiritually, reversing secularism and renewing the nation’s Christian heritage with vibrant faith, discipleship, and outreach.

“Will you not revive us again, that your people may rejoice in you?” (Psalm 85:6)

2. Pray for renewal in Catholic and Protestant churches facing decline, and for continued growth among charismatic, evangelical, independent, and immigrant congregations. Pray for lasting discipleship and unity across denominations and cultures.

“Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.” (Ephesians 4:3)

3. Pray for effective outreach in cities like Amsterdam, where church attendance is only 1–3%. Ask God to empower ministries such as Youth With A Mission (YWAM), Agape, Operation Mobilization (OM), and Serve the City to reach both natives and immigrant populations.

“Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.” (Mark 16:15)

4. Pray for Turks, Kurds, Moroccans, and other Muslim peoples in the Netherlands, that the trickle of Muslim-background believers would grow into a stream. Pray for ministries working with refugees and for the integration of new believers into discipleship communities.

“And I have other sheep that are not of this fold. I must bring them also, and they will listen to my voice. So there will be one flock, one shepherd.” (John 10:16)

5. Pray for Bonaire, St. Eustatius, and Saba, where nominalism and superstition are common. Ask that those who call themselves Christian would discover a living relationship with Jesus Christ.

“Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves. Do you not realize that Christ Jesus is in you—unless, of course, you fail the test?” (2 Corinthians 13:5)
