The Five Ps of Disciple Making
Key verses: Galatians 4:18-20
Galatians 4:18 It is always good to be made much of for a good purpose, and not only when I am present with you, 19 my little children, for whom I am again in the anguish of childbirth until Christ is formed in you! 20 I wish I could be present with you now and change my tone, for I am perplexed about you.
Key thought
Disciple making is laborious –Paul uses the image of child birth to describe it, but it is rewarding labour – we must do all we can until our disciples grow to maturity.
Discipleship is an intense process where we give our best to help young believers grow in Christ
The birthing of mature believer and his transformation is a process that cannot be avoided
1. Prayer
- Be intentional about praying for the transformation of your disciples (Ephesians 1:16, Colossians 1:9 )
2. Presence
- Surrogate discipleship is dangerous and does not work many times(Mark 3:14 )
3.Price – Pain – Passion
We must be ready to pay the price of raising new believers
4.Persistence – Process
Disciple making – raising new believers can at times meet setbacks
5.Purpose - Prize
Our purpose in discipleship it to get to the prize which is ‘until Christ is formed’ in our disciples
Prayer time
- Count the cost of helping disciples find their way
- May God grant us the ability to persevere as we disciple others
- Lord help us grow our ability to focus on the prize
