A Small Jar of Olive Oil
21 Days Prayer and fasting
Reference Scriptures: 2 Kings 4: 1-7; Genesis 8:22
Key Thought: Seeds are always in small quantities and though of value, sometimes they are negligible and can be forgotten.
The Woman’s Situation:
A woman in distress. Lost her husband, was being harassed by a creditor, had a risk of losing her two sons to a creditor. She decided to do something about her situation to change the situation.
Elisha’s Questions:
- How can I help you?
- What do you have in your house?
Lessons:
- Everyone has something - a seed. Seeds are always in small quantities. They can be negligible.
- Between sowing and reaping, there is process. Know the process. Follow the process. Be patient because between sowing and reaping, there is time.
- You reap what you saw Galatians 6:7. The small jar of oil multiplied into vessels of oil, five loaves of bread multiplied into baskets of bread and two fish multiplied into baskets of fish Mark 6:41.
- Harvesting requires more hands, more resources. The woman provided the seed (oil), God multiplied the oil. The flow of oil stopped when the last jar was filled. Neighbored provided the jars to contain the oil. The quantity of oil harvested was limited by the vessels which the neighbors provided.
Altar Time
- Pray that the Lord will grant you understanding to identify good seeds and wisdom to sow these seeds.
- Pray to the Lord of harvest to send more labourers / resources into the harvest. Mathew 9:38
